Mission Style

This project involved a 2,800 square foot addition to a 1910 French Mission style residence. The new spaces included a kitchen, family room, mudroom, lavatory and a 2 1/2 car garage with an au pair suite above. Designed to blend in with the existing period house, the concept was to do a miniature version of the existing house at the 2 story program (the garage and au pair suite) with a link ( the family room and kitchen) connecting to the main house. The plan offers a nice visual axis from both the kitchen to family room, and the family room to the dining room. Featured at the intersection of both these axis is a pyramidal skylight.
