Farm House

The design goals of this new 5000 square foot house (constructed partially on an existing foundation) were to maximize natural light and openness, and separate adult from children (3 teenagers), resulting in a first floor master suite, and stair location off kitchen /breakfast/ family area. The back of the house orients to the south so passive solar design was incorporated with large expanses of french doors, maximizing the indoor/ outdoor relationship. The use of dormers, board and batten siding , arbors, and stone were all used to capture a farmhouse/ cottage vernacular, keeping with the style of the existing streetscape.
